Superior track lose three meets to weather

Typically in track, you're trying to outrun your opponents. But at Monday's practice on May 3, the Superior Bobcats were trying to outrun the dark clouds in the sky that were drifting their way. Coach Tori Lucier said that while the rainy weather hasn't been frustrating all season, she said it certainly has been a nuisance as of late.

The Bobcats were supposed to host the Superior Invitational last Saturday, May 1, but the weather had different plans. Cold, windy and rainy conditions ended up causing the meet to be rescheduled for Thursday, May 6 at 2 p.m.

On Monday, Lucier had just finished taking role and the kids were headed back down the football field to run another stretch when the rain started to fall from the sky.

"We certainly won't be doing any events today," said Jamie Toivonen, assistant coach. "It seemed like normally this time of year we only have a couple storms, where this year we've had four of five."

Needless to say, practice was cut short.

The Superior meet wasn't the only cancellation last week. Lucier said they'd driven all the way to Wallace, Idaho on Tuesday, April 27 for the Wallace Invitational only to have to turn around and come back home. On Thursday, the Bobcats were supposed to be in Arlee, but again the meet got rained out.

Besides the rescheduled meet in Superior if things work out, the Bobcats will also be at the Seeley Invitational at the Big Sky Track on Saturday, May 8.
