Some county candidates are asking for votes but violate Montana campaign rules.

The Montana Political Practices Commission publishes a list of specific regulations.

One is, "political candidates must include the name and complete mailing address of the candidate or the candidate's campaign." It must be the current address of the campaign, which was filed in Helena and at the courthouse.

This was verified by a telephone call to the Commissioner's office.

I know both of the county political parties have advised all their candidates about the need for a disclaimer.

Two candidates have violated this requirement for weeks.

One candidate certainly should know better since he has run several times.

Some of his signs have no disclaimer and many of the others have the address from previous years. I have seen a video of this candidate presented on You Tube where the words "respect" and "trust" are used numerous times.

I can only say that I will "respect" and "trust" this candidate when he follows all the laws of Montana - including the campaign laws.

I hope all citizens ask themselves the question, "Do I want to vote for candidates that enforce and follow the laws or that violate them?"
