It might not be November 2, but last Tuesday, Alberton, Superior and St. Regis School Districts held elections for school board trustee positions. Candidates were either elected to a two or three year term. St. Regis also voted on a Building Reserve Levy.

In Alberton, the school had two three-year terms available and one two-year term position to fill. Harley Butch Marvin and Kathleen Woodford were the two nominees voted into the three-year positions, beating out a third candidate Steve Piippo. A total of 84 votes were cast in favor of Marvin, while Woodford was voted in with 73 of votes.

Clay Acker won over Daniel Hanley for the two-year term that was available. He won by a huge margin, receiving 88 of the votes. Hanley only received 34.

In Superior, four candidates were vying for two open seats that carried a three-year term. Jason McLees and Richard Milender were the two elected to the positions. McLees won with 117 votes and Milender won with 126 votes. Keith Stockard and Gayle Hutchins were the two other candidates in the race. Stockard garnered 98 votes and Hutchins received 86 of the votes.

In St. Regis, voters from both St. Regis and the West End decided to elect Shelly Dunlap and Carol Young into the two open positions. Polls were located in the Old DeBorgia Schoolhouse as well as in St. Regis. Young received the largest number of votes with 142. Dunlap came in second with 119. A mere five votes short was contender Charlie Thompson.

Votes also decided to pass the Building Fund, of which the purpose is to plan in advance for known or anticipated repairs. The plan received 136 votes in favor or the levy, compared to 78 votes against it. This levy is a renewal of the previous five-year $30,000 levy. The current levy is due to expire this year on June 30, but the renewal was passed. Heating plants, boilers and roof systems are two critical components of the building's operation. Interior lighting and flooring are also two areas that the school is planning ahead for.
