Wine tasting upcoming
Once again, it is time to celebrate fall with the Ninth Annual Wine Tasting and Fashion Show. This event was conceived by Erica Swanson Lawyer, McGowan’s Grocery, Laura Rehbein and Mountain West Clothing. This year those businesses, plus Clark Fork Valley Hospital, Kalispell Regional Medical Center, Community Hospital and St. Patrick Hospital will again be sponsors.
Cancer Network of Sanders County is the grateful recipient of the proceeds. Since the inaugural event, nearly $50,000 has been raised. The total number of financial gifts to Sanders County residents undergoing treatment for cancer from the beginning of 2001 to the present is 381 for a total of $93,050. In just one year, from last October to now, CNSC has given 46 gifts worth $7,500. Kathleen Miller, president of CNSC, says that this event is one of the top fundraisers each year, and it has allowed the organization to continue to increase the amount of funding each year. She laughingly said that “no one gives us a prize for keeping money in the bank.” CNSC has always said that the more money it is able to raise, the more it can give out.
This year, wine glasses will be provided to use to taste four different red wines and four different white wines. In addition to these, no-alcoholic beverages will be available for anyone, including our special folks who have volunteered to be designated drivers. McGowan’s Grocery, Clark Fork Valley Hospital and others will again be supplying hors d’oeuvres for those attending. There will be a small live auction, as well as a raffle table.
The Wine Tasting and Fashion Show will be held at the Sanders County Fairground Pavillion, starting at 7 p.m. on Oct. 7. Tickets can be purchased from the Sanders County Ledger in Thompson Falls, and from Mountain West Clothing in Plains.
