A 30-point third quarter was enough to give Arlee a 60-26 advantage on Friday versus Noxon.

“The third quarter was the longest quarter of my life,” Noxon head coach Greg Misner said. “It’s one of those things in eight-man football. It can get away from you quick.”

After trading points for two quarters, Arlee came out of the locker room ready to play, scoring on their opening drive of the second-half.

Noxon fumbled on the two subsequent kick-offs and the Arlee Warriors took each down the field for a score, making it 42-6 before the Red Devils knew what hit them.

“We just had a little let-down,” Misner said. “First-half, we played really well, fourth quarter we played really well. The third quarter just annihilated us.”

The Red Devils would play close in the fourth, scoring 14 to the Warriors 16, but it was too little too late.

Brendan Piazzola contributed on three Noxon touchdowns, one rushing and two passing. Adam Moore rushed for one and caught a second score.

For Arlee, Zach Tameler and Dylan Moran rushed for thee touchdowns each, as Dakota Dejarlais and Cole Rice each hit pay dirt once.

Although not entirely pleased with his team’s sloppy play Misner was hopeful that some good will come of the loss.

“The kids were pretty put out by it, they were pretty disappointed,” Misner said. “I think they’re going to be a little more focused this week.”

“It was a rough three-weeks for our schedule, and we knew that,” he added. “If a teams’ better than us we don’t mid losing, but at the same time, they know they could have played a lot better.”

Despite losing their third game in a row the 3-3 Red Devils are still in the playoff hunt thanks to their stellar 3-0 start.

If Noxon can win out (Victor and Lincoln) and Arlee can defeat Lincoln on Friday, the Red Devils post-season aspirations will be realized.

The Red Devils will go on the road to face Victor on Saturday at 1 p.m.
