House burns near Dixon
Early Wednesday morning an abandoned house erupted into flames in Dixon, just off of Highway 200.
A call went out across the radio of a house fully engulfed in fire up Revalis Creek at 8:28 a.m. on Wednesday.
At 8:45 the Dixon Fire Department arrived on scene, and began fire suppression activities.
The house, located on 10574 Highway 200, had been vacant since it’s last renter moved out.
The Mission Power Company was scheduled to disconnect the power at the residence for non-payment that morning, although the attendant had not yet arrived. The power was active at the time of the fire.
“We showed up with two trucks and lots of water and preserved as much of the debris as we could for the fire marshal to go through,” said Dixon volunteer fire-fighter Marilyn Athearn. “The fire was cleared within a couple hours, I don’t know how long they were out there with the fire marshal [investigating].”
Although the cause of the blaze is still under investigation, there were no injuries.
