The Thompson Falls Market will close the 2010 market season with the much anticipated Cinnamon Roll Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the west lot of the Falls Motel.

The Cinnamon Roll Challenge is a baking competition that showcases the skills of local bakers.

“Cinnamon Rolls are not the easiest baked good to make. The time invested in creating a cinnamon roll can only be justified by how enjoyable it is to eat them. Served with a piping hot cup of coffee, you really cannot beat it,” Katrina Campbell, the market manager and co-owner of the Falls Motel said. “It’s breakfast perfection.”

The market encourages residents of Sanders County to sign up to compete in the Cinnamon Roll Challenge.

The contest is paying out prizes to the top three entries. Ultimate bragging rights will go to the cinnamon roll judged to be the perfect balance of sweet and spice, texture and presentation.

“By Saturday afternoon, we will know if the 2009 reigning queen of cinnamon rolls, Terry Thompson, is dethroned or if she retains the crown,” Campbell said.

Along with cinnamon rolls, attendees will enjoy locally baked scones, quick breads, squash, pumpkins, garlic, eggs, jewelry, pottery, bouquets, coffee and tea, jams and jellies and artwork.

The market offers a large variety of locally baked, crafted or grown products for attendees to peruse.

“I enjoy the community vibe that is accompanied by the music Nat and Jackie Burgess bring to the market. The Thompson Falls Market really is a showcase for the arts, a place to meet and greet your neighbors and the place to pick up locally grown produce,” Desiree Rexhouse, a regular market attendee, said.

To compete in the Cinnamon Roll Challenge or to sign up for a vendor booth, download the entry forms and rules from www.ThompsonFallsMarket.com or stop by the Falls Motel between 8:30 a.m. 8 p.m. for an entry form.

The Thompson Falls Market is located on the west lot of the Falls Motel on the corner of Lincoln St & Maiden Lane and runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For questions or more information call 406-827-3559 or email manager@thomsponfallslodging.com.
