Noxon came up short in a pair of matches last week, first at home versus St. Regis, and later on the road at Hot Springs.

Despite winning the first set on Thursday, the hosting Red Devils fell victim to St. Regis in four games, 25-19, 18-25, 20-15, 24-26.

“For us, it always seems to come down to our passing,” Noxon head coach Andrea Poland said. “So that’s what were working on.”

St. Regis bested Noxon in most statistical categories: 17-7 in aces, 10-6 in kills, 18-10 in blocks, and most glaringly 33-8 in digs.

Noxon was led by Junior middle hitters Jordyn Wilkinson and Cara Stettler. Stettler served two aces, scored four kills, and five blocks in her first action since suffering a knee injury last basketball season. Wilkinson had two kills, and as many blocks in the loss.

“Jordyn had a great game. She had a great weekend, period,” Poland said. “She’s really getting her hits in and getting them down.”

On Saturday versus Hot Springs, the Red Devils suffered not only a loss on the scoreboard, but one in the locker room as well.

Stettler re-aggrivated her surgically repaired knee and looks to be out for the remainder of the season during the 20-25, 25-10, 26-24, 24-26, 15-7 defeat at the hands of the Savage Heat.

Hot Springs improved to 2-2 in conference.

Wilkinson starred for the Red Devils. She gave Noxon 12 kills, seven aces and a block, while Shelby Smith added 10 digs, and led all players with 22 assists.

Lindsey Salmi boasted team highs for Hot Springs with 24 digs, nine aces and two blocks. Alyssa Foster garnered 12 kills for the Savage Heat, and Hannah Retallick dished out 11 assists.

“We’re gonna keep working on the passing and making sure that we get the opportunity to get all three hits in there,” Poland said of her plans to rememdy the Red Devils woes. “We’ll just keep working hard, and keep tightening it up.”

The Red Devils play again on Friday at Arlee.
