Rhandy Cox competed in her event before the track meet got cancelled. No results were recorded.

The Superior Bobcats went to Frenchtown this last weekend, competed in a couple events, before they all piled back onto the bus to drive back to Superior. The meet got cancelled due to a strike of winter weather.

Coach Tori Lucier said that it was slightly disappointing, but noted that they “didn’t want anyone to get hurt” if they had chose to continue with the competition. Lucier also said that it was “pretty miserable” out.

With the TNT Invitational left to be possibly rescheduled, Lucier said that they are looking toward two meets for this week, weather permitting. They will travel to the Florence Invitational on April 7 and also compete at the Kootenai Invitational on Saturday.

The team will be down in numbers this year because of the athletes who were involved in the accident earlier this year. Still, 28 kids are coming out and she said that 18 students are returning, including nine that competed at state last year.

“We have three all state returning as well in Kaitlynn Koke, Ashley Blaylock and Nicole Stroot,” Lucier said.

Lucier said that she wants every student to find success this season and hopes that they will be able to break some school records. Winning at state wouldn’t be too bad either.

Track, unlike other sports, has several different events that students will compete in. Lucier said that certain qualities will help students succeed,

“(It takes) will power and hard work,” Lucier said.

Lucier has been coaching track for 26 years and has served as head coach for 12 years. She said that her goals as coach are to help kids succeed and perform at their full potential.
