It was a winning week last week for the Superior Mountain Cat Tennis team. The girls had three teams on the schedule and they beat them all.

The season kicked off with a win against Valley Christian, 7-0, on Tuesday last week. Four players, Cary Chamberlain, Emma Wooldrige, Michele Reinelt and Kiana Cox, won all their singles matches.

Chamberlain defeated her opponent 6-0 and 6-2. Wooldrige defeated her opponent in both games 6-0. Reinelt took out her opponent the same way and Cox followed suit.

In doubles play, Kaylee Crabb and Sarah Wuebkes won 7-6 and 6-2 to claim victory. Channel Elliot and Alychia Scofield also won their match, going 7-5 and 6-0. Myranda Kuhl and her partner Hillary Stevens also won, 6-3 in the first game and 6-1 in the second.

It was a similar story on Thursday when the girls matched up against Loyola Sacred Heart. The Superior girls won 6-1.

The girls playing singles all won their matches. Cox lost her first match, 4-6, but came back to win the next two, 6-4 and 6-0.

Chamberlain also found victory again winning the match 6-0 and 6-3. Wooldrige won again, taking both games, 6-1. Reinelt was also continuing her winning ways. She defeated her opponent 6-1 and 6-2.

Wuebkes and Crabb won their doubles match and Stevens and Kuhl joined them. Loyola’s only victory came from defeating Scofield and Elliot, but the girls didn’t go down without a fight. They won the first game, 7-5, and nearly clenched victory in the second, 4-6. The third and final game was also close, 7-10.

Against Eureka, on Saturday, the singles girls once again all grabbed wins.  The only win credited to Eureka was the loss that Elliot and Scofield endured. They won the initial match 7-6, but lost the next two, 6-2 and 6-1.

This week, the Superior players have matchups with Loyola again on April 14 and Darby on April 16.
