Hot Springs hosts memorial meet

Eight days after it was originally scheduled, the Dave Tripp Memorial track and field meet took place last Friday in Hot Springs.

Poor weather had kept four hungry teams chopping at the bit for an extra week, but it couldn’t keep them at bay forever.

On Friday, Noxon’s Adam Moore won four events, lifting the Red Devils to a meet-high 187 points. Hot Springs came in second-place, scoring 175, Arlee third, 74 and Two Eagle River fourth, 39.

Moore won the 400 meters, the 110-meter hurdles, the discus and javelin and placed second in the 100-meter dash.  Teammates Banks Stocking, Derek Jensen, Neal Jopling, Brandon Piazzola and Caled Fickus also placed in multiple events.

Stocking claimed the high and triple jump events, placed second in the long jump, third in the 110-meter hurdles and fourth in the 100-meters. Jensen won the shot put, placed second in the javelin and fourth in the discus. Jopling finished third in the 200-meters and long jump and fourth in the long jump. Piazzola won the long jump and placed third in the triple jump. Fickas placed third in both the mile and two mile.

Karl Festvag led the second-place Savage Heat, winning the mile, placing second in the two-mile and fifth in the long jump. Festvag was adided by a slue of teammates. Wyatt Nagy won the 300 hurdles and snagged three second place finishes; the 400 and 800-meters and the triple jump. Cody Scott won the two-mile and finished second in the mile. Jimmy Holland placed second in the 300 meters, third in the 800 and fifth in the triple jump and 400. Cody Hoff finished second in the discus and shot put and third in the javelin. Trevor Bras placed second in the 200 meters, fifth in the 100 and fourth in the 400. Dave Cross earned points by finishing second in the disucs, third in the 400 and fourth in the javelin.

The hosting Savage Heat took the girls’ title with 154 points. Arlee finished with 126, Noxon, 105, and Two Eagle River, 8.

Corle Morefield won four events for Hot Springs. She took the 100, 200 and 400-meters and won the triple jump. Amanda Woods added wins in the 800, mile and two-mile while placing third in the long jump. Lindsay Salmi won in the 100 hurdles. Delta Jackson finished second in the 800, third in the mile and fifth in the discus and javelin. Alyssa Foster placed second in the javelin and third in the shot put and javelin. Rosa Dolson placed third in the 400 and fourth in the high jump.

Shelby Clark had a strong showing for the third place Lady Devils. Clark won the 300 hurdles and placed second in the 100 hurdles and 400-meters. Casey Chenoweth took the shot put, placed second in the discus and fourth in the 100-meter and javelin. Brooke Smithborne placed second in the 100, third in the 200 and fourth in the 400-meters. Shay Lloyd placed second in the mile, fourth in the 200-meters and fourth in the long jump. Zoie Brown placed fourth in the 100-meters and fifth in the 200, 400 and long jump. Jordyn Wilkinson placed third in the javelin and fifth in the shot put.
