The Tiger golfers traveled to the Bigfork Invitational and the Plains Invitational last week.

On Thursday, in Bigfork, Jocelyn Dockter shot a 105, placing sixth. Shelby Berg shot well and Coach Dan Park said that she came close to qualifying for state.

Steven Mellen shot a 111 and Tim Cranley II shot a 124.

Park said that the weather was windy all day and snowed off and on. He said that he’s sure the wind presented a challenge for some of the golfers.

“It’s also a tough course,” he noted, “with lots of water and sand.”

On Saturday, in Plains, Berg shot a 121, missing qualifying for state by one stroke. Mellen missed qualifying for state by one stroke. He shot a 101. Cranley missed qualifying by five strokes, scoring a 105.

“But they showed a lot of improvement,” Park said. “We’re getting down to where we look like good golfers.”

Shad Rich shot a 110 on Saturday. Park said that the weather was cold again. He noted that the course isn’t as challenging as others.

“There’s not so many out of bounds, not as many sand traps and there’s a lot less danger areas,” Park commented.

Park said that as everyone starts to improve and are hitting the ball better, they need to get down to scoring better.
