It’s nearly midseason already for the Alberton track team and Coach Rachel Clevenger said that they’ve been nursing a lot of injuries and taking it easy.

Clevenger said that there were quite a few events that kids should have taken part last Thursday when they traveled to the Jim Johnson Invitational in Missoula, but she wanted to play it safe.

“It was really nice though because the kids that did participate improved their marks and the weather was nice,” Clevenger said.

Matt Foley, Jake Thompson, Brandon Lehl and Todd Myrstol joined forces and placed in the 1,600 meter relay.

For the girls, Delani Hanley placed first in the discus with a throw of 101.

“She blew out her knee back in volleyball and hadn’t really done anything since the third week of the volleyball season,” Clevenger said.

Not only that, but this was her first meet of the season and Delani is only a freshman.

“She’s real serious about the discus though,” Clevenger said. “And she’s very competitive.”

Alberton will be in Mineral County on April 30 for the Superior Invitational. This week, though, they have the Seeley Invitational on April 22.
