The Superior golfers have been playing in rain, snow or sunshine this season. Last weekend in Plains, Coach Seth Kuhl said that the weather was fairly decent though they did encounter some snow and rain while they were playing.

“It was pretty much spring golf,” Kuhl said. “It ended up being pretty windy out there and was spitting snow for a while. The golf course is coming out of its winter hibernation as well.”

The five boys who are the only golfers Coach Kuhl has this season  finished in sixth place with a combined total of 462.

Trevor Bailey and Dan Taron played fairly well, Kuhl said. They are two of the team’s experienced players.

“They were a little over what they should have been,” Kuhl said.

As for the others, Kuhl said that he was pleasantly surprised by how well they performed. For Kyle Bahm and Wally Schrock it was their first tournament.

“These kids haven’t played much golf and I was pleasantly surprised by them,” Kuhl said.

The golfers compete in Class B, so unlike Class C, they don’t qualify at the different tournaments during the regular season and will actually have to head to divisionals to compete for a spot.

The team has no girls this year.

The boys will play in the county meet at Trestle Creek during the St. Regis Invitational on May 5.
