Superior Elementary invites you to a performance of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” on Friday, April 22, at 7 p.m.

The traveling Missoula Children’s Theatre arrived on Monday to work with the kids for a week toward putting on the production.

Donna Chambers said that auditions were held on Monday and typically around 60 kids will be given a part in the play. Whenever the Missoula Children’s Theatre truck rolls into town, they try to give out as many parts to kids as the production allows.

“If we are lucky, everyone will get a part,” Chambers said.

All this week, the students will be putting in hours rehearsing. Chambers said that the actors from the Children’s Theatre are always very good about including the kids who are shy.

“They are very good about accepting children who are shy,” Chambers said, “because they know it will be a good experience for them. They don’t weed those kids out.”

The dress rehearsal will be held Friday at 2 p.m.

Chambers said that the productions always have lots of music and are of “excellent quality.” She said that the kids look forward to the play and always have lots of fun.

“And it’s always nice for the community,” she said.

If you’ve ever been to a Missoula Children’s Theatre production then you know a lot of times the scripts can be spoofs on the original stories. Chambers said that while this is true it is not always like that. She said that those in attendance can defiantly count on the production being funny.

“They always try to make it funny,” she said. “That’s true of the performance. It’s always a happy silly.”

Chambers said that the production is always a learning experience for the kids. She said that they can “feel proud of what they’ve accomplished in such a short amount of time.”

“They put together a big production and there’s a lot of pride in that,” she said.

Chambers said that they couldn’t do this without the help of local businesses who support the performance.

“We rely on donations,” she said, “and we really appreciate them.”
