Superior girls take second place at T-Falls Invitational

Superior track competed at the Thompson Falls Invitational and the Bigfork Invitational last week.

At Thompson Falls, the girls ended up taking second place with 132 points. They were 40 points behind Thompson Falls, who won the meet. The boys came in fifth place with 50 points.

For the girls, Kaitlynn Koke grabbed second place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.10. In the 200 meter dash, Ashley Blaylock took second with a time of 29.79 seconds. She ran the 400 meter dash in 66.24 seconds, which was a first place finish.

Kinzie Cooper excelled in the longer running events. She competed in the 800 meter dash and took home a first place finish with a time of 2:42.18.

Nicole Stroot took a second place finish in the 100 hurdles with a time of 18.32 seconds. Rhandy Cox nabbed third in the event with a time of 18.43 seconds. Stroot and Cox also competed in the 300 meter hurdles. Cox took fourth with a time of 54.21 seconds and Stroot nabbed second place again with a time of 51.95 seconds. The Superior girls won the 400 relay and took second in the 1,600 meter relay.

Moving onto the field events, Koke was first in the javelin with a throw of 113 feet. Stroot was first in the long jump with a leap of 14-8. Superior girls filled first through third place in the triple jump. Cooper took first with a distance of 31-3. She was followed by Koke in second, 3-6, and Cox nabbed third with a leap of 29-11. Cooper also took a second in the pole vault.

For the boys, Christofer Erickkson took fifth place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12:36. Darian Haberlock came in third in the 200 with a time of 25.72 seconds. Seth Lapinski grabbed a sixth place finish with a time of 66.91 seconds in the 400 meter dash. He also took sixth in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:52.99.

In the 110 hurdles, Anthony Pockin took third with a time of 22. 16 seconds. The relay team took first in the 400 meter relay.

Over in the field events, Donovan Linear took third place with a distance of 40-10.5. Adam Kay was sixth in the long jump, 17-0. In the pole vault, Christofer Erickkson took second with a height of 12-0.

After a good meet in Thompson Falls, the kids had a day to rest before catching a bus over to Bigfork. A lot more teams attended the meet on Saturday. The girls came in 13th place with 33 points and the boys came in second to last with 16 points.

Blaylock was fifth in the 400. Stroot came in fourth in the 300 meter hurdles. The 400 and 1,600 meter relay teams came in third.

Koke took second in the javelin and Stroot was in third in the long jump. Cooper nabbed a fifth place finish in the pole vault.

The boys took sixth in the 400 meter relay. Linear took sixth in the shot put with a throw of 40-7. Erickkson took first in the pole vault with a height of 12-6. Matt Campbell grabbed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 11-0.

Superior will be at Hot Springs and Seeley this week. They will have their only home meet on April 30.
