Trotters take two from Drummond

The Trotters had an impressive outing last Thursday as they come away with two wins over Drummond while hosting a Western B-C doubleheader.

The win punctuated an impressive turnaround for Plains, who after beginning the season 0-4, has rattled off five consecutive wins.

In game one, the Trotters looked flawless, winning 3-1 while tallying eight hits and no errors.

Sophomore hurler Aspen Rude pitched eight innings, allowed three hits and fanned 16 as she picked up the win for Plains.

Emilie Angelo picked up the loss for Drummond.

Trotter Junior Shannel Peterson sealed the deal with a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth.

Ashley Thompson collected a pair of hits while Hannah Powell, Alex Green and Karlena Heward each had one. Meghan Massingale added a triple for Plains.

For Drummond, Breanna Wight had two hits and an RBI.

The second game was called after five innings due to the five-run margin rule after Plains darted out to a 13-3 lead.

Rude and Heward combined to give up three hits for Plains.

Angelo took the mound again for Drummond.

For the Trotters, Thompson went 3 for 3 and batted in three runs. Rude added three more RBIs for Plains. Dominuqe Kovar was 2 of 2 at the plate and Green, Heward, Massingale and Felicia Earhart all added hits.

Plains traveled to Troy on Tuesday, but results were not available by press time.

Their next game will be at home versus Mission on Friday.
