The Red Devils took a break from conference play, falling twice against Class B opponents last week against Valley Christian, 39-52 on Thursday and Troy, 44-52 on Friday. The losses marked the second longest losing streak of the season at three games for the District 14-C Red Devils (4-10).

“It’s definitely nice to have a break, because it takes the pressure off of the conference schedule,” Noxon head coach Mike Tessier said.

Noxon struggled to play a complete game in either contest, outscoring their opponents 73-70 through six quarters, but falling behind 11-34 in the other two, during the losses.

On Thursday, the Red Devils dashed to a 11-9 lead at the end of the first, but a 21-6 run by Valley Christian put the game effectively out of reach.

“In that second quarter, they got pretty hot,” Tessier said. “I thought we were playing pretty good defense, but man, everything they put up went in.”

Lane Norberg scored 13 for the District 6-B Eagles in the win. Coty Becker scored 13 and Matthew Bohlken 10 for Valley Christian (4-9).

Travis Tammaro led the Red Devils with 11 points. Jordan Eichert scored nine, Banks Stocking five, Tyrell Wilkinson four, and Austin Tucker one.

On Friday, Noxon led 40-39 after three back and forth quarters with the Trojans before Troy tallied a 13-5 advantage in the final frame to seal the victory. The Red Devils scored a meager two field goals and shot a paltry 1 of 5 from the foul line in the fourth quarter.

Ryan Rayson led the District 7-B Trojans with 16 points. Cory Orr tallied 13 and Mikey Ormiston added 12 as Troy improved to 8-4 with the win.

Tammarro went an astounding 8 for 8 from the field for 18 points to go with his 12 rebounds to lead Noxon in the loss. Eichert scored 11 points, Stocking seven, Wilkinson four, Jopling three, Jesse Linderman two

“I was hoping for a breakout year for Travis and he’s coming into it right now, he kind of got off to a slow start this season, but he’s starting to feel his way right now,” Tessier said. “He had a good weekend overall and a monster game against Troy.”

Noxon will face St. Regis on Friday before hosting Thompson Falls on Saturday.
