Taylor Firestone and Tanner Ostrum battle a pair of Vikings for a rebound during Saturday's loss to Bigfork.

With two more losses this week, the Horsemen (0-8 conf., 4-12 ovr.) have cemented their position at the bottom of the District 7-B conference heading into the upcoming tournament.

After falling to Bigfork, 23-53, on Friday and Eureka, 56-63, on Saturday, Plains is three games behind fifth place Thompson Falls (3-5, 7-9) with only two regular season contests remaining on their schedule.

On Friday, the Vikings kept their conference record perfect as they took advantage of their height and speed, racking up a 30-point win.

Christian Ker, 14, and Carter Sorenson, 13, each posted double digit scoring totals for Bigfork (9-0, 12-4).

Junior forward Tanner Ostrum led Plains in points and rebounds with seven and 15 respectively. Wade Bache added six points, Taylor Firestone four, Carson Lilja three and Jeff Revier two in the loss.

For the second time this season, the Horsemen lost in a close game to the Lions, falling by seven points, on Saturday in Eureka.

Plains would enter the locker room leading 30-25 after falling behind 14-18 at the end of the first quarter.

In the third, Tanner Blankers scored 11 of his 24 points to help the Lions outscore the Horsemen 24-18, putting them ahead for good. Chris Ibach, 16, and Bryton Guckenberg, 11, were also in double figures for Eureka (4-5, 4-12).

Firestone, 17, and Revier, 13, scored double digits for the Horsemen. Andrew Baker added nine points, Lilja eight, Brandyn Smith five and Ostrum and Robert Earhart two apiece in the loss.

Plains will host Mission on Tuesday, on the Horsemen’s senior night, before traveling to face Thompson Falls on Thursday in their regular season finale.
