Ski classes begin

Lookout Pass Ski Area, I-90 Exit -0-, Mullan, Idaho,  January 2, 2011 - On Saturday, January 8, 2011 the Lookout Pass Free Ski School will begin its 71st year of offering free ski and snowboard lessons to children ages 6 to 17.  Throughout the years, this nationally recognized school has taught over 40,000 students both the skills and etiquette for a successful and lifelong skiing experience.  The Free Ski School is a non-profit organization run by a group of dedicated, volunteer instructors who operate the program with donations received from businesses and individuals throughout the area.

The program runs every Saturday from January 8th through March 12th and week ten (March 12th) there will be a BBQ and awards for the students.  The beginner lessons start at 10 AM PST and the intermediate, advanced, and expert classes begin at 11:30 AM PST.  The beginner session runs one hour and the upper levels last one and a half hours. 

Each child must supply his or her own ski/snowboard equipment and rental gear is available at the ski area.  Lift tickets are not needed during the lessons but are required should the child wish ski or snowboard during the balance of the day.  Registration can be done on-line (recommended) at www.skilookout.com , or in person at the mountain on or before the 3rd week of the program.

Buses for adults and children will run from Liberty Lake, Kootenai County, Silver Valley, and Western Montana each of the ten Saturdays from January 8th through March 12th.  The Liberty Lake and Kootenai County buses cost $13 round trip each Saturday and the Silver Valley and Western Montana buses are free.  Please visit www.skilookout.com for departure times and locations.
