Bluehawks soar past Seeley-Swan
The Bluehawks won their first game since sweeping the Sanders County Tip-off Tournament in early December by crushing Seeley-Swan 90-58 on Friday at home. The win was sandwiched between losses to Charlo, 54-58, on Thursday and Loyola Sacred Heart, 62-76 on Saturday.
After a hot start, the District 7-B Bluehawks have slumped to a 3-5 mark, although three of those losses were within single digits.
At Charlo, on Thursday Thompson Falls started things off right leading 12-9 after the first quarter, and taking a 25-24 lead into halftime. Charlo would outscore them in both the third and fourth quarters to eek out the four-point victory.
The Bluehawks climbed their way back from a 55-38 deficit in the final two minutes, but the Vikings held on for the win. Garrett Reinschmidt, Sky Hall and Josh Hojem were all in double digits scoring 17, 12 and 10 points respectively in the loss.
The Vikings improved their unbeaten mark to 7-0. Chance Rosenbaum’s 17 points led the way for Charlo. Garrett Herron, 13, and Chico Stipe, 10, also scored in double figures.
On Friday at home, the Bluehawks came out sizzling, shooting their way to their highest offensive output all year while winning their first content in nearly a month over District 13-C Seeley-Swan.
Reinschmidt, Jaron Laws and Cody Phillips each hit three 3-pointers in a volley of long-range shots that sank Seeley-Swan’s ship.
Thompson Falls out scored Seeley-Swan 28-9 in the first and would increase their lead by the end of each quarter throughout the game.
Ten different Bluehawks would score in the game. They were led by Reinschmidt, 28 points, Laws, 18, and Phillips, 13.
Bobby Russel put up 16 points for winless Seeley-Swan (0-7) squad. Leland Hatten tallied 14 points and Conor Marlatt chipped in 11 in the loss.
Thompson Falls would wrap up its weekend with its third game in as many days and its second straight at home on Saturday as it was toppled by District 6-B Loyola Sacred Heart.
The 7-1 Rams started things off with a 19-12 advantage after the first quarter, which was pushed to 41-28 at the break. It was more of the same in the third, when LSH scored 20 to the Bluehawks 14, but in the fourth Thompson Falls finally came out on top, out scoring their opponent 20-15 in the final period.
Laws scored 16 to lead the Bluehawks in the loss. Reinschmidt, 13, and Challis Wilson, 10, broke into double digits as well.
Sophomore Josh Janssen posted a career-high 30 points for the Rams while senior teammate Everett Johnston added 20 more.
