Ladyhawks lose three

Three losses last week give District 7-B Thompson Falls five straight as they dropped to 1-2 conf., 2-6 ovr. The Lady Hawks’ last win was nearly three weeks ago as the Ladyhawks edged Troy, 44-41, on Dec. 14.

On Tuesday, the Ladyhawks hosted Charlo and came up just short of the District 14-C Vikings, falling 40-43.

The Ladyhawks fell behind early, trailing 12-13 at the end of the first quarter and 18-23 at halftime. They would outscore the Vikings 22-20 in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome Charlo’s fast start.

An impressive 15 offensive rebounds, and a decisive 12-1 edge in made free-throws pushed the Vikings over the edge for the win.

Kelsey Fitchett scored 18 points to lead Thompson Falls. Hope Reid, 10, and Makayla Becker, six, carried their respective shares offensively.

Kinley Pope of Charlo led all scorers with 19 points, helping her team improve to 5-1.

Deondra Brown was also in double digits, scoring 10 points for the Charlo.

On Friday, the Ladyhawks traveled to Seeley-Swan where they fell 44-62 in the non-league matchup.

After an even first half, 33-all, Thompson Falls failed to break double figures in the third or fourth quarters, scoring five and six points respectively while District 13-C Seeley-Swan tallied 29 points over that same span and advanced to 6-1.

Sophomore forward Hope Reid scored 14 points while Vaught chipped in 11 in the loss.

For Seeley-Swan, Hope Crowell tallied a game-high 17 points including three 3-pointers.

Tiffany Wendel and Cascade Parcell each scored eight points in the win.

Finally, on Saturday, the Ladyhawks ended their busy week with a 26-50 loss against Loyola Sacred Heart. The District 6-B Breakers improved to 7-1 with the win.

Thompson Falls limped to a 4-13 deficit after the first quarter. Their only sign of life came in the second as they cut into the Rams’ lead, narrowing the gap to 23-17. In the second half, their offense went silent again as they would score in the single digits again in the third (five) and fourth (four) quarters.

Becker was the lone offensive bright spot for Thompson Falls. She scored 12 points in the loss.
