The St. Regis Tigers played against Two Eagle and Noxon last week. Against Two Eagle River, the boys struggled defensively and ended up losing 40-69.

Things went better against Noxon, according to Coach Dan Park. He said they played Noxon pretty evenly in the first six minutes of the game, but ended up falling behind. They lost to Noxon 25-65.

Park said that Two Eagle took an early lead, 0-18, in the first minutes of the game. After that, he felt the boys played them pretty evenly.

“We sort of had a downfall on the defensive side of things,” Park said.

Against Noxon, the boys were pretty behind at halftime, but played catch up going into the third, but it wasn’t enough.

“All in all, last week, I think the team figured some things out and came together a little bit,” Park said. “I was disappointed after Tuesday, but after Friday, I could see where things were starting to click.”

Park said that they don’t have many problems finding good shots, but when they take the shots, the ball doesn’t find its way into the hoop.

“We have a lot of problems scoring and hitting the good shots,” Park said. “I think as soon as that happens, the whole team will turn around and they’ll have that confidence they need.”

Park said it was a bit hard coming out to play after Christmas break because they didn’t always have the whole team at practice.

“We’re not world beaters yet, but we’re trying,” Park said.

Park expects both games to be tough this week. They have Charlo and Victor.

“We’re just going to keep building on what we’re trying to do and keep going in that direction,” Park said. “I can’t say we’re going to win either of these games this week, but maybe by tournament we’ll be ready.”
