Lady Devils fall to Vals

The Vikings kept their District 14-C record perfect as they halted Noxon’s five-game winning streak, by defeating the Lady Devils, 35-23, on Saturday.

Noxon’s last loss came over a month ago, on Dec. 18, last time they faced Charlo. The tenth ranked Vals (5-0, 10-1) are the only Class C team to best Noxon all season.

“You’ve got to keep raising the level of your game and you can’t do that unless you play teams that are better than you and they were better than us that night,” Noxon head coach Ron Jungert said. “They need to see it, I need to see it, because we’re going to come across tougher teams than Charlo.”

Charlo stretched their 26-20, halftime edge by holding the Lady Devils to just 10 second half points while never surrendering more than nine in a single quarter.

Jungert was impressed with Charlo’s game plain, saying the Vikings knew who to leave open and who to double team as they held Noxon’s big guns, Kim Marich and Cara Stettler, to single digit scoring.

Marich had eight points while Stettler added seven points and seven rebounds for the Red Devils. Alana Dettwiler, six, and Shay Lloyd, two, were also contributers for the Lady Devils, who dropped to 3-2 conf., 7-3ovr.

Kinley Pope led all scorers with 15 points while leading Charlo in the win.

The Lady Devils will host two nonconference games next week, Valley Christian on Thursday and Troy, on Friday.
