"Boots and Buckles Bash" to raise money
The Mineral County Medical Foundation invites the public to its annual “Boots and Buckles Bash” fund raiser to be held at the St. Regis Community Center on Saturday, April 2, at 6:00 P.M.
The Western evening includes a BBQ dinner and entertainment by Montana’s own cowboy poet and musician, Ken Overcast. Ken is a third generation Montanan, and is truly making a mark on American entertainment.
His CD, titled “Montana Cowboy,” was named Cowboy CD of the Year by True West Magazine, and containsthe song “Montana Lullaby,” which was selected as the Official Lullaby of the State of Montana in an act by the Montana Legislature. Ken was crowned the Western Music Association Yodeler of the Year and awarded the coveted Will Rogers Award by the Academy of Western Artists.
So, all you cowboys and cowgirls lasso your partners and mosey on over to St. Regis for a celebration around the chuck wagon. It will be a memorable night; Thumbs Tomlinson, who says, “he‘s the best roper in Mineral County,” will be there to separate the genuine cowboys from the drugstore ones.
There will be a reward for the most authentic dressed cowboy and cowgirl. Hackle Jack Morrison, known as the stingiest wrangler in Western Montana, says “$25.00 per ticket for the meal and the music is a real bargain.” Raffle tickets are $10.00 for a chance to win $500.00 worth of cash prizes.
The foundation had hoped to invite Clint Eastwood as guest of honor for “A Few Dollars More,” but the foundation only had “A Fist Full of Dollars.” All is not lost; the attendees will be able to view pictures of Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, and Gabby Hayes.
Maggie Dahl, foundation chairperson, says, “The citizens of Mineral County have been outstanding in rounding up and corralling funds for the clinic, hospital, and long-term care facility.” A walk -in bath for the nursing home, a remodel for the clinic, and a new operating table for the hospital are just a few projects supported from monies raised from the community through the foundation’s efforts.
Now is the time for all good cowboys and cowgirls to put away the liniment and to break in those new jeans, polish that belt buckle and head to the “Boots and Buckles Bash.”Tickets can be purchased by calling: 649-2977 or 822-0027.
