The Mineral Community Hospital Foundation said “aloha” to island fun and music Saturday at the St. Regis Community Center in a luau themed benefit.

Guests were treated to a ham dinner as well as a night of laughs and entertainment courtesy of the Singing Sons of Beaches from Polson. All of the proceeds from the benefit went directly to the Mineral County Medical Foundation.

“The first thing I want to do is address you folks and how much you have done for this foundation,” Roger Brown, Mineral County Hospital Board member said. “It is your foundation.”

Brown added that the money from the evening stays right in the community at the hospital and drew attendees’ attention to a sign at the front of the room that detailed a few of the items that have been purchased due to donations to the foundation.

Everything from toys and games for the waiting room to medical books for the physician and nursing library has been purchased by the foundation using donations.

Equipment such as the hospital’s first CT Scanner and even a new roof have also been made possible by donations from the community.

“When you go to your hospital, you be very proud that your money has gone directly into what’s going into the hospital,” Brown said.

Brown then introduced Geoff Wilson, who is on the Board at Blackfoot Communications, for a special presentation.

“Blackfoot takes a lot of pride in being in this community and it’s events like this that develop the infrastructure in the community and maintains it,” Wilson said. “From that standpoint we would like to start off this evening by donating $500 to the foundation.”

Wilson added that Blackfoot is looking forward to helping support new hospital projects in the future.

With the presentations and dinner completed, it was time for Brown to introduce the main event of the evening – the Singing Sons of Beaches.

“Directly brought to you by Del Monte Foods, arriving from San Francisco by pineapple boat – ladies and gentlemen I give you the Singing Sons of Beaches,” Brown said.

The trio then took to the stage and spent the rest of the night entertaining the audience with humorous songs and anecdotes that went perfectly with the Hawaiian theme.

According to Mineral Community Hospital Board member Muffy Bollock, the event wouldd not be possible without a “fantastic group of volunteers.”
