SUPERIOR - The U.S. Forest Service was disptched to a wildfire Sunday afternoon after reports of a sighting on Charlie Miller Pass near Superior.

According to Dispatch, the call for the fire came in just after 4 p.m. The fire burned 4/10 of an acre - less than half - and the location is just up Cedar Creek. The Forest Service named the fire ‘Charlie Miller,’ and as of Monday morning, still had 6 people on the fire to continue its containment.

“The fire is well in hand,” Ned Winebrenner of Plains-Thompson Falls-Superior DNRC Dispatch said.

The Forest Service and Superior Ranger District ran an air attack team on the fire, using a plane, a 8-mic echo helicopter, and SEAT, or single engine air tanker, which is comparable to a crop dusting vessel. The SEAT came out of Ronan, according to officials.

As of Tuesday morning, the fire is currently in the “mop up” phase, and another team has been dispatched to clean and make sure ground fuels do not contribute to a re-start of the fire.

Cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
