Alberton seniors give back through service projects
Seniors at Alberton High School are creating projects to help their community.
The six seniors were tasked with coming up with a service project as part of their senior curriculum and are participating in a variety of activities.
"This year we have six seniors doing their part in helping the community," Kayla Choate wrote in the Alberton School Newspaper. "I believe the senior projects are a wonderful and fun way for young adults to get involved and help give back to their community."
Tasha Ball decided to organize a 5K run for Breast Cancer Awareness and told Choate that the projects are a "good learning opportunity" that lets the seniors work hard.
"It will bring the community together for a good cause," Ball said.
Megan Drury chose to paint a mural and the senior said she will either paint a "huge" panther paw or a panther.
"It is a challenge," Drury said. "But I am looking forward to the results."
Other seniors are taking on a variety of projects – Josh Webb is fixing the basketball court near the Alberton Community Center and Shawnda Rohrbach plans on bringing a recycling program to Alberton.
