HOT SPRINGS - In their District 14-C opener of the regular basketball season, the Savage Heat came out big against Two Eagle River on Friday night.

Big senior Dave Cross posted 24 points in the game, with 10 points in the first quarter alone that came from regular basket shots. Fellow senior and teammate Wyatt Nagy followed Cross in scoring, posting 14 points, most of which also occured in the first quarter. second quarter points came from senior and team captain Mike Gray (six points), Shane Hoff (four points), Jaden Baker (two points) and Dave cross (four points). The aggressive offense, an echo of the boys’ recent success in football, was met with a solid win, 64-48.

On Saturday in Arlee, however, it was a different story as the Savage Heat came out with a loss to the Warriors. They were up, 11-4, after the first quarter, but were not able to hold back the Warrior offense as they found themselves tied up after the third, 38-38. After a struggle to maintain the ball, they lost by just four points to Arlee, 45-50. Lead scorer was senior Wyatt Nagy, who had 19. The Savage Heat now stand 1-1, 2-2 and will play Seeley Swan on Friday there, and take on Superior at home on Saturday.
