There is an old saying in basketball that games are won on the court and not in the standings. Plains took this motto to heart over the week as the Horsemen swept the competition and added their first win in division play against rival Thompson Falls on the road.

Against the Blue Hawks, the Horsemen kept pace with the opposition and by halftime and built a five-point lead. In the third quarter Plains took their game to a whole new level as the Horsemen were controlling the tempo on both sides of the ball. Plains outscored Thompson Falls 21-8. While the Blue Hawks did manage to get some offense going in the fourth quarter, it wasn’t enough time to make up the deficit created earlier. Plains won by a final of 60-46.

Jeremiah Crawford had a big night for Plains as he led the team with 16 points. Robert Earhart and Tanner Ostrom also reached double digits in scoring as they recorded 11 and 10 points respectively.

Jaron Laws was the leading scorer for Thompson Falls as he posted 12 points for the Blue Hawks.

This was the second win in a row for Plains over the week as they also took down Hot Springs in front of the home crowd. Just like in the game against Thompson Falls, Plains played Hot Springs close in the first half and then added to their slim lead in the second half by controlling the tempo of the game. The Horsemen won by a final of 50-28.

Robert Earhart and Jeremiah Crawford led the Horsemen attack as they combined for 24 points on the night

With the win against Thompson Falls and Hot Springs, Plains has improved to 3-13 overall and 1-7 in conference play.

Next week the Horsemen will look to add to their two-game winning streak against Whitefish on the road followed by Frenchtown at home Saturday night.

The game against Plains wasn’t the only opposition Thompson Falls took on as they faced both Florence and Eureka.

Against Florence, Thompson Falls fell behind early but were able to cut the deficit to eight by halftime after a solid second quarter. The Blue Hawks were done in by their play in the third quarter as they were outscored 18-9. Although the team improved play in the final quarter, it wasn’t enough to make up the deficit. Florence won by a score of 61-48.

In the third game against Eureka, Thompson Falls had another game where they were unable to get something going early on. The Blue Hawks played much better in the second half but they couldn’t overcome they mistakes they made early on. The final score was a 69-53 loss for the Blue Hawks. With the three total losses, Thompson Falls drops to 3-13 overall.
