Red Devils fall in OT to Bobcats; beat Blue Hawks

Both Noxon and Thompson Falls proved to be human out on the basketball court this week but it was Noxon that suffered an especially tough loss. In their final match of the regular season, the Red Devils fell short by one point in overtime against Superior on their own home floor.

In that game, Noxon jumped out to an early lead but Superior fought back to pull within five by halftime. For the remainder of regulation, both teams traded the lead and neither side could gain the clear advantage. It would take an extra quarter to decide this contest.

In the end, the game was won when Clint Voll of Superior hit two free throws to take the lead for good against Noxon. The final score was 51-50 in favor of Superior.

Both Jordan Eichert and Travis Tammaro kept the Red Devil offense clicking as both players posted double-digits on the night. Eichert had 20 while scored 18 against the opposition.

While the loss was the final game for Noxon, they did manage a win in the final week as they beat Thompson Falls by a score of 60-45. In the game, both the Red Devils and the Blue Hawks were evenly matched throughout most of the contest as both teams played tough. It was in the final quarter when Noxon pulled away with a 21-12 run to seal the victory.

Jordan Eichert had a big night with 17 points for Noxon while teammate Banks Stocking 14 points for the ballclub.

For Thompson Falls, the squad was led by Jaron Laws with 16 points while Garrett Reinschmidt added 13 to the final scoreboard.

With the split on the week, Noxon finishes the regular 13-5 as they will face St. Regis this Thurday evening at Ronan.

The game against Noxon wasn’t the only one of the week for the Blue Hawks as they concluded the season with a match against Bigfork at home. While Thompson Falls played consistently through most of the contest, it was 19-7 run in the third quarter that halted the momentum of the Blue Hawks. Bigfork came out of Thompson Falls with the 55-46 win.

Like the match against Noxon, Jaron Laws and Garrett Reinschmidt against played well as they combined for 29 points on the evening.

Thompson Falls finishes the regular season 3-15 and will face Plains in the postseason.
