Savage Heat season ends at district

Hot Springs’ run in postseason began and ended at the district tournament in Ronan. While the team made a tough run through the opposition, they were unable to get a win against Superior on the final day to keep their postseason hopes alive. Hot Springs will end the season 6-12 in the regular season and 1-2 in postseason play.

Early on in their first game against Charlo, it looked like Hot Springs was headed to the semifinals to face Noxon. The Savage Heat built a 22-17 halftime lead. Things changed in the third quarter as Charlo stormed out of the half to take the lead and momentum with a 26-5 run. Hot Springs was never able to recover and lost 62-38.

David Cross led the Savage Heat attack with 18 points total.

Hot Springs bounced back to win their second game as they dominated St. Regis in a 52-12 route. The Savage Heat held the Tigers to only four points in the second half.

Wyatt Nagy and Jonas Pahlke were the backbone of the Hot Springs offense as each player scored 11 points in the game.

With only one game standing between Hot Springs and the consolation title game, the Savage Heat were unable to make it past Superior. Hot Springs played well in the first quarter by a 12-3 run by the Bobcats marked the end for the Savage Heat in the tournament and the season. Superior won by a final of 71-38.

Dave Cross had a huge game in his final outing this season with 20 points while teammate Wyatt Nagy added ten points to his yearly total.
