The construction of the new medical clinic in St. Regis is reaching its final stages and the finishing touches should be done by the end of January to early February.

Since the new medical clinic in St. Regis broke ground September 27, the construction of the clinic has had some minor delays, but nothing out of the ordinary for such a project.

Reed Mountain Construction, an Alberton construction company, has been doing the construction on the clinic since the company was selected in the competitive bid process.

Reed Mountain Construction has tried to use local subcontractors, employees, and suppliers whenever possible during the project, which was important in the bid selection process that gave preference to Mineral County residents.

Pam Reed, of Reed Mountain, said the construction crew is working on the interior finish to complete the project. The crew is painting, putting in cabinets, flooring, insulation and other interior works.

Pam said she is grateful to have the work and have the ability to stimulate the local economy in Mineral County. Reed Mountain works by the idea of creating jobs by making a conscious effort to use American made products on every project.

When the clinic is complete in the near future, Monica Ray, the marketing director at the Mineral Community Hospital, said a ribbon cutting ceremony would be held. No finish date has been currently set.

The clinic, which will be a part of the Tamarack Medical Clinic, will be located along Highway 135, across from the antique store in St. Regis.

Having a permanent clinic in St. Regis means those looking for healthcare services in the western part of Mineral County don’t have to always travel to the Mineral Community Hospital in Superior.

The construction of the clinic was made possible through financial support from the St. Regis Resort District and from the Human Resource Council, a generous donation of the land by Grant Lincoln, and a zero-interest loan from Blackfoot Telecommunications through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development.

Mineral Community Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) and Level-IV Trauma Center located in Superior, Montana. They provide a full range of healthcare services to residents of Mineral, Sanders and Missoula Counties, as well as to residents from eastern Idaho.
