The Plains Royals are winding down their regular season as they head towards their postseason tournament.

They took on the Polson Riverdogs and the Thompson Falls Rangers in the final week of the regular season. They played on Wednesday night and Thursday night this week.

The Royoals came away losing to Polson 7-5 and closed out the week with a win over Thompson Falls 11-4.

Plains had the lead for most of the game against the Riverdogs until the top of the seventh.

Thats when Polson loaded the bases with two outs thanks to three walks.

The Dogs would go on to score four runs with out even putting the bat on the ball, thanks to two more walks and two wild pitches. Polson trailed 4-2 heading into the top of the inning and came out of the inning with a 7-4 lead.

The Royals would pick up one run off the Dogs closer but were unable to pull even or even grab the lead.

Polson scored their seven runs on 12 hits and booted five balls.

Plains scored their five runs on 21 hits and committed three errors.

The following night Thompson Falls came to town to take on the Royals, Plains controlled the game from start to finish cruising to a easy eight run win. For maybe the first time in baseball history a team scored double digit runs with only getting one hit. The Royals were aided by eight Ranger errors.

Skeeter Johnston started on the mound for Plains and the big lefty took control early and had the Thompson Falls batters off balance all night.

Plains scored 11 runs on only that one hit and had four errors of their own.

Thompson Falls scored four runs on three hits and committed those costly eight errors.

The Royals close out the regular season this week and will start postseason play later this weekend. Plains will travel to Mission Valley to play in their postseason tourney.
