The Clark Fork Valley Little League held their postseason tournament on Saturday in Plains, six teams from  around Sanders and Mineral county came to compete.

The teams earned seeds based on their regular season records and in some cases tie breakers and play in games.

The Thompson Falls Bluehawks and Noxon Diamondbacks finished the season with identical records and tied their only meeting of the season, the other meeting was rained out. So the tie went to the Little League board and the number one seed was given to the Diamondbacks, Thompson Falls was slotted in the number two spot. On the other end Superior and St. Regis took part in a play in game to see who would be the number six seed, the Rockies of Superior won that match-up and made it to the weekend. The Plains White Sox came in as the three seed, the Plains Tigers were the four and the Hot Springs Braves were the five seed.

The Diamondbacks and Bluehawks met on Monday night to crown a little league champ. Logan Wood homered for Noxan and Rilan Weltz held the Thompson Falls bats in check longenough for the D-backs to come away with a 9-7 victory and the valley title.

Noxon and Thompson Falls met for the first time in the championship game of the winners bracket, and just as expected the game was as close as their two seasons had been. The D-backs came away with a 3-2 victory to move on to the championship game with an unblemished record. Noxon beat the Plains Tigers 16-10 to win their first game and advance to the winners bracket game.

Thompson Falls also received a bye to the second round where they took on the Continued from page 7...

Plains White Sox. These two teams played a pair of hotly contested regular season games with the Hawks winning both. The Sox would again fall in a extremely close game losing 3-0.

The Sox started their day by beating the Superior Rockies 16-1, the Tigers got their day started off right beating Hot Springs 26-4.

The Braves had to forfeit their second game against the White Sox due to not having enough players. The Tigers took on the Rockies in an elimination game, and the Tigers moved on to play the White Sox beating Superior 11-0.

Having already played three games, it was the battle of Plains for the right to play Thompson Falls. The White Sox jumped out early and held off a late inning comeback by the Tigers to win 19-9.

In the days ninth and last game the Plains White Sox and Thompson Falls Bluehawks met for the fourth time this season and second time in six hours. The winner would stay alive and move on to play Noxon in Mondays Championship game. And of course this one came down to a bounce of a ball here and there, the Bluehawks again came away with a hard earned victory winning 7-6 in extra innings.
