Plains Fly-In

The skies over Plains were dotted with classic aircraft Saturday morning as the Plains-Paradise Chamber of Commerce held their annual Fly-In event at Penn Stohr Field.

Members of the community were able to come out and see the planes up close after they circled in and landed just a matter of feet away from where the pancake breakfast was served. Kids were able to get up close and personal with the planes and the pilots as the cockpits were open for viewing and the pilots stood by and answered questions about their aircrafts.

There were 150 pancake breakfasts served which was up from last year and about 30 aircrafts that stopped by. Airport manager Randy Garrison on how the weekend went,

“The weather might have been the only stickler, some people might have held off on flying in because of the weather forecast. Other than that it was a great weekend.”

The Fly-In is a chamber event, meaning that all proceeds from the event go to other chamber events and then back into the community.

People who stuck around throughout the event were treated to a special visit from Missoula, as a six passenger corporate jet made a special fly-in landing.

“It was neat for people who have never seen a jet, to see one up close and personal like that,” said Garrison.

As this year’s Fly-In puts their tray tables up, they are already preparing for next years take-off.
