District 14C Track Meet
The 2012 district 14C track meet was held Thursday in Polson. Charlo High School won the boys overall competition with 196 total points, Hot Springs finished second with 125 points, and Noxon finished fourth with 84 points.
Banks Stocking of Noxon was the individual star of the meet with wins in the javelin, high jump, and shot put events. Stocking also finished top three in three other events such as second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.87.
Dave Cross was the only event winner from Hot Springs as he took first place in the discus competition: however, Wyatt Nagy and Mike Gray picked up a handful of second and third place finishes. The relay team of Nagy, Anthony Byrns, Gray and Cross, took second in the 4 x 100. Gray, Jimmy Holland, Cross, and Nagy also took second in the 4 x 400.
Noxon’s relay teams finished third in both races, with Neal Jopling, Brandon Piazzola, Taylor Tasker, and Austin Tucker in the 4 x 100, and Caleb Fickas, Taskers, Tucker, and Brent Wilson in the 4 x 400.
The girls from Noxon and Hot Springs finished fifth and sixth respectively in the overall standings, while Charlo again won the competition with 226.5 points.
Amanda Woods had the best day for the Hot Springs girls she finished second in the 800 meter, 1600 meter and the 3200 meter races.
Casey Chenoweth and Kim Marich had the highest finishes for the Noxon girls; both placing third Chenoweth in the discus and shot put and Marich in the triple jump.
The divisional track meet will be held this week in Corvallis and the state meet will be held Friday and Saturday May 25th and 26th in Butte.
