SUPERIOR - Republican United States Senate Candidate Dennis Rehberg made a campaign stop in Superior on Oct. 30 to drum up support prior to the Nov. 6 election.

Rehberg was joined by several other state candidates, as well as U.S. Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming – who he fielded questions from the audience with.

"Now what percentage of the time does John Tester vote with Barack Obama," Rehberg asked the crowd at the Superior 4-H building.

"99 percent," was the resounding answer.

From there, Rehberg gave a brief speech about several campaign issues – focusing primarily on John Tester’s voting record in the senate.

"This encapsulates everything we are talking about in this campaign," Rehberg said. "The fact that John Tester is a surrogate for President Obama."

Rehberg used examples such as an EPA decision and health care in which Tester voted with Obama as proof that Tester is "a surrogate" for the President.

"This is a tough race," Rehberg said. "I never thought I would quote Barbara Streisand in Superior Montana but she had a song that said ‘people who need people are the luckiest people.’ Well I am really, really lucky that I need you."

In his speech, Rehberg told the audience that he needed them to call friends and family members throughout Montana and urge them to vote for him in the upcoming election.

"Get them out to vote for me in the senate," Rehberg said.

"You don’t really have a chance to make a difference in the Presidential race. Romney is going to win Montana. Whether he wins the nation or not, we don’t know. But, if I win we have a path to a majority in the senate." Rehberg then introduced Senator Barrasso to the audience, saying that he was "thrilled" to be travelling with the senator.

"I want to thank you for all you are doing to get Denny Rehberg elected to the United States Senate," Senator Barrasso said. "Candidates always say ‘this is the most important election of our lifetime.’ but this really is the most important election in our lifetime."

Rehberg and Senator Barrasso fielded several questions from the audience about health care and energy prior to continuing their tour with a stop in Plains.
