Floyd LeRoy "Bud" and Bette June Derrickson

Floyd LeRoy "Bud" Derrickson, 87 died June 1, 2011 at his home in Eagle River, Alaska. Bette June (Shoemaker) Derrickson, 81 died November 2, 2012 at her home in Eagle River.

A memorial service will be held at Plains Cemetery in Plains, Montana at a later date.

Floyd was born February 29, 1924 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Bette was born June 13, 1931 in Baker, Montana. Bud honorably served in the US Army during World War II. Floyd and Bette were united in marriage on September 13, 1947. The couple was self-employed for most of their lives until retiring in 1991 to Plains, Montana. They later moved to Post Falls, Idaho before moving to Eagle River, Alaska on December 5, 2010. They were devoted members of Real Life Ministries in Post Falls, where they also volunteered with the Real Life Ministries Thrift Store.

The only thing Bud loved more than fishing was Bette, and a close second was fishing with his kids and grandkids. The only thing Bette did more than loving Bud was worrying about the trouble he was getting into.

Their family wrote: ‘Bud was young at heart, with a healthy sense of humor and a prankster streak up until the end. Bette had a capacity to tolerate Bud that couldn’t be matched. Her compassion and love of her friends and family made her the adopted Mother and Grandmother of many. Their friends and family will miss them at holidays, card parties and gatherings for years to come, but we know they are happy together, causing a ruckus in heaven!"

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Shari and Clifford Crismore, Eagle River, AK; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Chris Derrickson, Minong, WI; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jamie and, Spring Tancre, Rathdrum, ID; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Michelle Crismore and Toby Valkenburg, Anchorage, AK; grandsons, Bryce and Brett Derrickson, Minong, WI; and granddaughter, Brooklyn Derrickson, Minong, WI; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bette is also survived by her sister, Faith Frank, Rathdrum, ID and her brother and sister-in-law, Morris and Ilene Shoemaker, Thompson Falls, MT.

The couple is preceded in death by grandsons, Benjamin Derrickson and Jason Tancre.
