Earl J. Strand

Earl passed away September 17, 2012 at home. He was born on April 29, 1930 to Elmer and Edith Strand in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.

Earl attended grade school in Rice Lake, later attending junior high and high school and graduating from Alexandria, Minnesota. Later joining the Navy, serving for four years and being honorably discharged in 1952.

Earl's hobbies included making beautiful wooden bowls and candleholders on his metal lather he made himself. 

Earl was handy and also made his own woodsplitter and smoker, which he used to smoke the fish he shared with his many friends.

Early enjoyed doing crossword puzzles in his evenings.

Survivors include his wife Guida, daughter Cara (Superior) and her son Jory Schmeling (Couer d'Alene), daughter Earlene and husband Dan Worle, their children Shawn and Garret (Vancouver, WA), daughter Gean and husband Kevin Daniels and granddaughter Jessica. Daughter Polly Strand and son Len and wife Jackie Smalling and their children Victoria, Benjamin and Crystal of Nickerson, Kansas. Cousins Gary and Betty Strand and Marion Hammon. 

Services were held September 21 at Superior Cemetery with military honors.

Honorary pall bearers were grandchildren Shawn, Garret and Jory.
