PLAINS - In their second battle, the Plains Trotters and Thompson Falls Lady Hawks saw a few differences from the first time around; however, the Lady Hawks one again came out on top (3-0 sweep) due to stellar kills and aggressive, well-placed serves.

“Thompson Falls went to state, they know how to play the game, inside and out,” Plains head coach Kim Earhart said. “They’re very efficient in their passing, their setting, their killing, and they have older players. We are still young, but our numbers were a lot better this time.”

The Trotters were able to get fairly close to the Lady Hawks in the second game. The set ended 25-18, Lady Hawks, but Coach Earhart said that was the closest the Trotters had gotten in about three years.

“We got aces, Tia Thompson had two aces of the three, and they play phenomonally well,” Coach Earhart said. “I liked their spirit, I didn’t see them shut down, and they kept playing. I love all of them playing like they did. Every one of them were pushing and working.”

For the Trotters, they had 10 kills with Jessica Hansen leading with 3; 22 digs with Kimberly Earhart, Corle Morefield and Destiny Roberts each chipping in 5; eight assists with Felicia Earhart and Sami Kinzie each giving 4.

For the Lady Hawks, their disciplined execution of each play was made apparent early in the game, with few mistakes.

Thompson Falls put in 33 kills with Kelsey Fitchett leading with 19; six blocks with Hope Reid leading with 3; 42 digs with Angie Padden leading with 12; 34 assists with Allison Vaught leading with 30; and eight aces with Logan Beckman putting in three.
