SUPERIOR - The Superior Ranger District Offices played host to Lisa Cooper’s First Grade class from Superior Elementary School on Thursday.

The trip marked the end of the first grade classes unit on birds of prey and Superior Ranger District Biologist Beth Kennedy gave the students a first hand look into the birds.

“We have a bunch of mounted birds here,” Kennedy said. “We were able to show them the nests and compare the feathers of the birds. It was like bird show and tell.”

Kennedy added that the classes unit focused primarily on owls and she was able to show the students several mounted specimen and describe their characteristics.

“There was lots of enthusiasm here,” Kennedy said of the first grade class.
