SUPERIOR - The Superior Bobcat volleyball team earned a spot at this weeks Western C Divisional Tournament in Butte after placing second in the district tournament on Oct. 27.

Superior began their run in the tournament facing a familiar foe from the county, the St. Regis Tigers, in a loser out match.

Senior Nicole Stroot elevated the Bobcats over the Tigers with 13 of Superior’s 27 kills and her dominant performance set the tone for the match.

Following the lead of Stroot, seniors Myranda Kuhl and Rhandy Cox both put up four aces.

As a team the Bobcats had 13 serves unreturned by the Tigers.

Hillary Stevens was a set-up sensation for Superior. The senior posted 22 of the team’s 23 assists.

Superior beat the Tigers in straight sets (25-10,29-25,25-19), and kept the momentum up in their next match against Charlo.

The Vikings put up a fight against the Bobcats, but it was once again Stroot who came up big and put Superior over the top.

Stroot had 15 kills and two critical blocks in the loser out match. Stevens was more often then not found setting up Stroot for the kill with 26 assists.

The Bobcats won in four sets (23-25,25-15,25-21,25-18) and continued to roll towards the championship match.

Next up on the chopping block was the host team Arlee and the Bobcats had no problem quickly sending them packing.

Stevens came up big for the Bobcats in the match. The senior had 30 of the teams 34 assists, which resulted in 39 team kills for Superior.

Superior beat the Scarlets in straight sets (25-20,25-18,27-25), earning them a spot in the championship.

In the championship match, the Bobcats faced their stiffest competition of the day in the form of the Hot Springs Savage Heat.

The Bobcats could not finish in any of the three hard fought sets and the Savage Heat took the championship.

Stroot had 13 kills and 3 blocks for Superior and Stevens put up 20 assists.

Four Bobcats had aces in the match.

Superior will hit the road on Thursday for the District C Tournament in Butte.
