MINERAL COUNTY - A nomination committee will be formed by the Mineral County Chamber of Commerce to put forward the candidates for 2013 Chamber President and Vice President.

During the monthly meeting on Oct. 18, Carol Young volunteered for the committee and it was decided that the committee will have their recommendations by the Nov. meeting.

In other business, the chamber officially set Dec. 15 as the date for Winterfest 2012.

The event committee will be chaired by Monte Turner and Kelly Mitchell.

According to the official chamber meeting minutes events for Winterfest include, "an art fair and craft bazaar, a town and business decorating competition, toys for children donations, and pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Claus."

Peggy Temple has volunteered to chair the Fly-In committee for 2013.

The event was cancelled in 2012 and Temple said she is "looking forward to a successful and entertaining event."

Mike Dodd, chair of the Golf Tournament, gave an official statement of the earnings and expenses for this year’s tournament.

This year the tournament raised $7,507 and spent $5,340.73 putting the event on – resulting in a total profit of $2,166.27 for the Chamber of Commerce.

"With the help of our fantastic volunteers and great donations, the golf tournament was a success and plans are already in the works for next year’s event," the minutes read.

Work is still in progress on the Mineral County Business Directory and it was reported at the meeting that the deadline for submissions for the directory has been extended.

Additional help is also being sought for input on the directory from members of the chamber.

The Chamber Office in Superior will conduct scheduled business hours on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

During office hours visitors are able to go into the chamber offices to get information on the counties business and activities.

At the beginning of the year, the chamber may see an increase in rent for the office space as there is a vacancy in the front of the building.

During the meeting it was also mentioned that the chamber was reimbursed $50 from Alberton Railroad Days for providing the event with insurance.

The next meeting of the Mineral County Chamber of Commerce is on Thursday Nov. 15 at 7:00 pm. Steve Carty, CEO of Mineral Community Hospital will be the guest speaker.
