St. Regis football takes a step in the right direction
The St. Regis High football team squared off against Lone Peak in their season opener on Friday in front of a packed house.
With a roster of only seven players, the Tigers came out strong and never let up from the opening kick off until the final second ticked off of the clock.
“The St. Regis team took a big step in the right direction against the Bighorns of Lone Peak,” Head Coach Damian Droessler said. “With only seven players suited up to their 15, our guys knew it was a going to be a formidable task. They responded and played as hard as they have since I came to St. Regis.”
ST. REGIS - Throughout the game the Tigers swarmed the Bighorns on defense and tackled well in the open field. St. Regis also took every advantage of opportunities to team tackle and did so often.
“The defense played extremely intense from the beginning and never let down,” Droessler said.
Droessler commended the entire team and also mentioned that Dallas Lewis and Shad Rich made “some big plays.”
“I feel we did what we need to do, and that is to Get Better Every Day,” Droessler said.
The Tigers will face off against Billings Christian at home Friday. Droessler said it should be a “great” game as it will also include Homecoming Festivities. Kick-off is at 7:00 pm.
