Horsemen to continue season

PLAINS - Many that were wondering what was to become of the remainder of the Horsemen’s football season can rest assured it will go on despite multiple player injuries.

“It’s looking better,” head coach Mike Tatum said. “We had three injuries in our first game, and three more in our third game, and we didn’t experience that last year. We had 22 players on the roster, and now we’re down four or five key players, which is why we forfeited [against Bigfork].”

Friday was another day of practice instead of a game, a much-needed break for the young team, according to Tatum. He sought to re-work offensive assignments, refresh, work on more aggressiveness, and get the boys in better shape. 

Among the injured are quarterback Keith Woodward with a broken collarbone, James Rulison with a torn ACL, Jeremiah Crawford with a concussion, and Branson Krebbs with a concussion. Dallas Burgess was out due to ineligibility of practice days, but will be eligible for the game against Thompson Falls on Friday night.

“We can compete against teams like Thompson Falls, Eureka and Troy,” Coach Tatum said. “They’re younger too, and are also down on numbers. Hopefully we will be all healed up and ready to go against Thompson Falls. They always come out and play hard so we have to be ready for that.”

The Horsemen will travel 25 short miles to play county rival Thompson Falls on Friday, in what will be Thompson Falls’ homecoming game, and perhaps Plains’ reckoning.
