Lady Hawks square off against Trotters
THOMPSON FALLS – The Lady Hawks have been on a roll, dominating other teams as they continue onto a streak of wins.
On Tuesday, Thompson Falls faced off their rivals Plains Trotters, beating them 3-0.
Head coach, Sandra Kazmierczak, said the Lady Hawks stepped it up and had a very good game, stating that both teams matched up well.
“Plains held their own, they were good,” said Coach Kazmierczak.
Kelsey Fitchett led the team in kills, scoring 14, Hope Reid led with three blocks, Angela Padden had six digs against Plains, Allison Vaught brought in 21 assists and Erica Sorlie had seven aces.
The Lady Hawks also swept Polson on Thursday, 3-0. The game was closely matched, with set scores staying close throughout the match: 25-23, 25-21, 27-25.
Coach Kazmierczak said that the girls came strong and overall had a very good game against Polson.
The Lady Hawks had an impressive 41 kills with Fitchett scoring 16. There were 15 blocks total with Reid blocking six. In total the ladies had 53 digs with Logan Beckman leading with 14, and had 40 assists with Vaught assisting 35 times. The squad had five aces in total.
On Saturday, the Lady Hawks had yet another 3-0 game defeating Deer Lodge at Thompson Falls.
The girls managed 30 kills with Reid bringing in 10, Fitchett had four blocks, with the teams total climbing to six. There were 39 digs with Beckman completing 10 and Vaught had 22 of the 24 assists. The ladies of Thompson Falls had four aces, with Fitchett pulling in two.
“The girls came up and played well. We had a whole week where we played three matches,” said Coach Kazmierczak. “They stepped it up and had very good games.”
Although Kazmierczak said the girls had an exhausting week with all the games they played, she was happy with their performances.
“I have a small team but they are all stepping up to play their roles. I’m really happy for the team,” said Coach Kazmierczak.
The Lady Hawks will play Troy on Thursday night for their homecoming game.
Kazmierczak said the team is working on their serves, receiving and passes.
“We have to improve in our passing, that’s our focus,” Coach Kazmierczak said. “(Troy) has a strong program. We’re trying to get better so that’s what we’ll do.”
The homecoming game will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at Thompson Falls.
