HOT SPRINGS - Not even a change of rotation due to injured players phased the Lady Savage Heat in their match against Two Eagle River Friday night, as they swept the Lady Eagles, 3-0 (25-9, 25-11, 25-4).

Senior Alyssa Foster sat out with a sprained ankle, while teammate junior Meara Schmiedbauer nursed a fractured wrist. Schmiedbauer, who is usually a formidable outside hitter and defense specialist, shook up the rotation with her injury, forcing head coach Alisha Pablo to switch Meara’s twin, Laurel, to outside hitter instead of setter. Junior Lizzy Cannon stepped in as setter, and the combination of different players in different positions made for an ever-effective offense.

“We had different rotations, and they did well,” Coach Pablo said. “I’m pleased that they’re able to move around and they did well with that.”

As an outside hitter, Laurel Schmiedbauer performed well; racking up 17 kills with Cannon’s 11 assists. Teammates Alex Green and Rosa Dolson brought the heat with their serving, each giving 11 aces out of the 33 total aces. Of all the delivered serves throughout the match, Coach Pablo was impressed that only three were missed.

“We had really good serves this match,” Coach Pablo said. “We’ve been working hard to improve our serving, and they showed that improvement.”

Next up for the Lady Savage Heat is county foe Noxon Lady  Devils, to take place tomorrow,  Thursday in Hot Springs.
