The bleachers were filled with Tiger fans as the St. Regis high school football team took on Billings Christian in their Homecoming game.

Head Coach Damian Droessler called the opponents “very good” and although he said the Tigers started out “a little flat,” St. Regis quickly picked up the pace.

“After we got this going and the effort was where it needed to be, we played a more evenly matched game,” Coach Droessler said.

“I was very pleased with the way our freshmen stepped up and played, especially in the first half.”

With the spark provided by the younger players it was time to up the intensity even more in the second half and the Tigers responded well – hitting hard on defense and fighting for every yard on offense.

Coach Droessler pointed out the performance of sophomore Andrew Managhan, who led the team in tackles and had the Tigers only touchdown on the day.

“After leading the team in total yards (last week) against Lone Peak and leaving the game late due to injury, Andrew bounced back, didn’t miss a practice all week and had another stellar performance against Billings Christian,” Coach Droessler said.

This week the Tigers will head to Alberton to face-off against an undefeated Panthers squad on Friday. Coach Droessler said that the team will continue to build and follow the mantra of “get better every day”.

“We made some nice plays offensively and defensively in the second half I feel we can build on as we play a very talented Alberton team this week,” Coach Droessler said.

Kick-off for the St. Regis versus Alberton game is at 7 p.m.
