Plains gymnast competes at state
Plains second grader, Kimberly Curry recently competed with 16 other qualifying teammates from Flathead Gymnastics Academy in the Montana State Championships held in Bozeman at the end of March. The State Championship Meet is the final meet of the season for all but a few higher level gymnasts who will compete in the Regional Junior Olympic Competition later this month held in Kent, Washington.
Competition levels 3, 4, 5 and 7 were represented at the State contest from the Flathead squad, with qualifying teams for levels 4 and 5. Level 4’s received a second place team award and the level five team placed first among all of the Montana teams.
All 17 competing Flathead Athletes placed in the top seven of their respective divisions, with Curry finishing as one of the three runner-ups in her competition level.
Kimberly has been practicing and competing with the 38 strong team in Kalispell since last March and has competed in nine meets across four states. With their season behind them, Curry and the Flathead Gymnastics Academy Team begins a busy summer learning new skills and routines preparing for a new season in the fall.
